Area residents are invited to a unique Career & Employment Fair at Project Self-Sufficiency on Thursday, September 22nd, from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Job seekers, those who need assistance with job search techniques, and people who need help navigating their current workplace are encouraged to attend. Workshops will highlight job search strategies and other topics, and representatives from local businesses will be on hand to promote job openings. The Career & Employment Fair is free and open to the public. Project Self-Sufficiency is located at 127 Mill Street.
“The Project Self-Sufficiency Career & Employment Fair is designed to introduce potential employees to new opportunities, and to demonstrate to those who already have a job the best way to advance in their current career,” remarked Deborah Berry-Toon, Executive Director at Project Self-Sufficiency.
In addition to information tables hosted by area employers, the Career & Employment Fair will host multiple workshops, including “Mock Interviews” and “Learn How to Maintain your Job”. Interested participants are encouraged to bring along their resume.
“The Career Fair will offer those who are currently seeking work the opportunity to network with other job seekers, get leads on employment opportunities and gain the skills and confidence necessary to land their next job,” added Patrice Green, Coordinator of the Careering and Employment Programs at Project Self-Sufficiency.
Employers expected to be on hand to discuss job openings include Army National Guard of New Jersey, Atlantic States Cast Iron Pipe Company, Bridgeway, Capitol Care, Inc., Compassionate Care, Devry, Dish Network, DVR, Express Employment, First Student, Hagaman’s Insurance Company, the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Learning Rx, Loving Care Agency, Lowe’s, the New Jersey Department of Labor, Newton Medical Center, Pathstone Corporation, Primerica, the Rock of New Jersey 105.5 FM, SCARC, The Education Guru, Willow Glen, and others.
Project Self-Sufficiency participant Donna Castoro recently attended an agency Career & Employment Fair, and she notes that her attendance helped her to land her new job. “" I am very grateful for the help I received from Project Self-Sufficiency. With their help, I was able to enroll in computer classes, prepare a resume and actually obtain full time employment through their Career & Employment Fair. "
